I have a Panny rp81 w/componet video outputs.I am watching the dvd on a Hitichi HDTV moniter w/componet inputs. I have Rhino Pro componet cables. I am still seing "moire` " paterns . Isnt s-video and componet sapost to elemate this?
I poped in my S & V HT tune up to see what the word for it is . He says on Chpter 3 video " Moire` " ,( More-ray ).

Why am I still seing this.I see it on people shirts like checker pattern or on sertain tie's.
Any thoughts?

It's spelled "moiré" (with an accent over the "e").

There can be any number of reasons why you're still seeing it. Remember that DVD, for all its virtues, is still a low-resolution medium as compared to film. Sometimes it just doesn't have the resolving power to reproduce the fine detail needed to avoid moiré effects in certain images and patterns.

Calibration helps. Progressive scan helps. But some image artifacts won't be eliminated until we move to an entirely new medium with much greater resolution.
