Well since Universal is dipping into their catalog now, why not release "Moon Over Parador"? Richard Dreyfuss is ok in it but it's the late Raul Julia that steals the show each time he walks into a scene.

Anybody else interested?

I've been looking forward to this one as well. It's a very entertaining and amusing fim and I think Richard Dreyfuss is excellent in it. Superb music score by Maurice Jarre as well.

I would love to get this movie!

I have it on laserdisc but unfortunately it's not in it's OAR.

It's one of my favorites, I was just listening to the score during my commute earlier this week. (One of these days I'll have to listen to it while walking past The Public Theater on Lafayette Street. I may even wear a hat and start saluting random strangers:)

I would love it if they'd throw some features on there though. No matter how I love a movie, I find it very difficult to get myself to buy it if it's a no-frills release.

Universal's announced an August 3rd DVD release for "Moon Over Parador"! Widescreen to boot!

The disc is barebones (not even a trailer), but Universal has done a very nice job transferring the film. Excellent detail and a fine reproduction of the film's colorful locations. Seeing the film again after a few years, I was reminded what a vibrant screen presence Raul Julia was and how unfortunate we were to lose him so prematurely.

I liked Moon Over Parador quite a bit. It's a harmless little love letter to acting and the craft of acting (and the narcissism of acting). This and Let it Ride are two underrated Dreyfuss movies that deserve a wee bit more attention than is usually accorded to them.

I noticed the Paul Mazursky film Moon over Parador (with Raul Julia and Richard Dreyfuss) was recently released on DVD, but I can't find any reviews that mention the quality, features, on even the aspect ratio. Anyone have it?

By the way, no need to tell me one aspect of the release is messed up. Nice cover art, Universal.

It's a bare bones release in 1.85:1 amamorphic. Sound is 2.0 stereo. Picture quality is excellent and so is the sound, even though it's not 5.1. It's a hugely entertaining film.

"Parador" is an easy word to search for, because you don't get many false hits. Your thread has been merged with the existing thread.

Glad you brought this thread back, I wasn't aware it had been released on DVD. Add another DVD to the list of stuff to buy.

The search function is down now, because there was a major server crash on Oct. 20, and much of HTF isn't functioning while the server is being restored. On Oct. 19, when you posted your new thread, everything was working normally, including the search function. I know, because I use it every day.
