Monty Python & The Holy Grail Extraordinarily (Deluxe Edition). Anyone heard anything about this? Release date is 2/21/06 but when I go onto DVDPricesearch.com I get all kinds of release dates ranging form 2/21/06 to ?/?/2010 and ?/?/2025. Can't seem to find out anything about this even on the Pythonline.com.

Yeah, I've had it pre-ordered for months - and was just announced as moratorium, which means you can add this to the pile of special editions that never made it out the gate. Same with Erik the Viking [edit: and Fish Called Wanda: Deluxe Edition!], which was also supposed to release Tuesday.

    Bummer.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding whether or not this release is still on. According to DVD Empire however, it no longer has a release date.

If these have all been cancelled, they been cancelled ninja-style [IMG] 'cause there's hardly been a peep about it.

So will they fix the subtitling problem on the introduction with this release?

Something else occurred to me about this Monty Python release, I seem to remember talk about this and all that was added to it was a bunch of Spamalot stuff, maybe a soundtrack or something.

Anyway, I'm not holding out much hope for this release. In my opinion, you're likely to see the existing edition with some extra extras on top of it that will be of questionable worth.

How do we know Erik the Viking was canned? DVDPlanet and Amazon have it listed for next week.

We'll we only have a week to find out about Erik. [IMG] I highly doubt it is so about A Fish Called Wanda. We got a boxart and full specs and it is a big name oscar winning film.

That's a good question. Does anybody know if the single missing subtitle (under the actual MPATHG title card) was restored for the R2 version?)

I'm curious about this too. You can't tell from MP titles if the Extraordinarily Deluxe Edition is "beneath" or "above" the Collector's Edition in the hierarchy. Is it an updated Special Edition? Or is it "A Load of Old Rubbish - a surprise package of mystery items specially included for the mentally challenged"?

    huh...?
First there was the bare non-anamorphic edition
Then the second 2 disc SE that was 16:9E
Then there was the Black Box with a film cell and what have you.
Quadruple dipping, while many other things sit waiting release.

CDWOW had the UK SE Orange Box similar to the US black box for a steal-
IT DOES have the missing subtitle restored-and the transfer was made only 3 months after the US edition.
I havent heard of any new R1 edition.
