Nice to hear from you, Patrick, and yours is a good, thorough, specific review. MONSTER FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR was, if memory serves, a staple of New York's WPIX show "Chiller Theater." We young ones ate this stuff up like it was a jelly doughnut. I do recall, though, that the "monster" was a huge disappointment, after loads of boring dialog, plus about 26 minutes of intros and commercials to satisfy the 90-minute time slot. In spite of a Tom Weaver commentary, which I always enjoy, I will probably pass on this...it should have been a double feature.

Tom Weaver's commentary is pretty great, even if the film isn't. I'm in agreement about double features since many of Film Masters' releases have consisted of one good or even very good film, plus a less good one.

The monster itself is interesting when you finally get to see it, but it's photographed with a heavy diffusion filter for some reason that just makes it look like the lens was smudged. Who knows, maybe it was.

You have to admit that title deserves an upgrade to Blu Ray. The old Wade Williams DVD doesn't have a great picture quality and the audio level is poor. A typical monster film from the late 1950's but it's fun to watch with a storyline similar to "The Werewolf" (1956) with Steven Ritch.
