I am in the process of building my first dedicated home theater. My components will be located 40-50' from my RPTV. I need to run a composite and S-video cable that distance.

I get a very good price (dealer cost) on Monster Cable products.

Should I go with the M500 series or move up to the M1000 series? Although I get a great price the M1000 series is still double the M500's.

For the SVideo, go with the higher series. Internally, those wires are 30 ga - very small, and you are running them a goodly distance, not outragious, but goodly.
For the Component cables - are you now/might be running progressive or HD signals? These require more bandwidth. Monster does not publish their cable specs, but my guess is the M1000 series is better suited for the higher-frequency & bandwidth signals.
PS. There is a "tweeks, Connections" fourm with lots of cable discussion. [IMG]
    Hope this helps.
