Monitor Out Question (1 Viewer)

Just bought a Pioneer 912. I have my DVD player coming in using the component in port and my DTV on S-Video. I have my X1 projector connected using Monitor out S-Video.

I noticed I cannot get the video feed from the DVD player. Is this because I do not have a component monitor out hooked up? Does the reveiver not ahve the ability to "switch" all sources in to the designated monitor?

Just need to know so I can get what ever cables I need

Think about it: What would be the point of down-converting component to S-video or composite?
