OK, I just rented this DVD last night! WTF!??!?! I am thoroughly confused. I think I know what happened. But there are very very slight details at the end(begining) that have me going 2 different ways.
Anyone care to shed light on what YOU think happened?
I say his wife is ALIVE!

First off, it's Memento not Momento.
Second, watch the movie again....you'll "see" more the second time through. Watch for every single little detail...and there are a lot. Even something as small as the scene where he opens the Gideon Bible...pause it and check out the page it's open to.
That being said, I don't think his wife is alive. If you are referring to the scene where they are in bed together, you will notice that Spoiler:Yes, he has a new tattoo indicating he got the guy, but some of the other tattoos are missing...I don't think that scene is intended to be taken literally. I don't think any of the scenes of the wife or of Sammy Jankis are literal...
Then again, I could be wrong. I'm sure this movie has been discussed to death here already, but I just saw it recently, so I'd love to hear what others have to say.

I know that suposedly, that Sammy Jenkis is actaully him. However, he is supposed remember everything perfectly up until the accident. If this is true, he should remember Sammy Jenkis just fine, right? Why would Sammy be made up? But then again, there is the part where he said memories are unreliable, and that they can change and morph. This is probably setting up the fact that he remembers Sammy wrong, or that Teddy is jacking with his mind to make him believe wrong. Teddy has a different story everytime.
Plus, since Teddy is a crooked cop anyway, how can we trust him?
If his wife isnt't alive, why would they put that scene in there along with the new tat? If it weren't for this scene, I would go with the explanation the crooked cop gave him about him being Sammy, and he actually killed his wife and he is on the manhunt for someone that doesnt exist.
Is it safe to assume that the main guy (forgot the name) wrongly killed 2 people?
I am gonna watch this movie again tonight, and maybe even a 3rd time.
