So The Passion of the Christ sparked interest in my religion again. Then I remember that almost 10 years ago, on a grade 8 retreat, we watched a movie that was a modern day version of Jesus' last few hours. It's something like DeCaprio's Romeo + Juliet where the story is pretty much the same, just in a modern time.

Does anyone know the title of the movie?

Thanks! I could have sworn Judas was in the title, but when I did a search for Judas on imdb, it came up with nothing.

The Green Mile is of course in many ways a modern day retelling of the Christ story.

That sounds really amazingly interesting. On the other hand, I can imagine it getting a huge controversial uprising from the more narrow-minded and easily-offended group of Christians.

Jesus of Montreal was a pretty good modern riff on the Gospels. Not great, but interesting.

Oh, yeah...The Green Mile. John Coffey, initials J.C. Stephen King being subtle again. [IMG]

You sure it wasn't E.T.? [I'm not entirely being facetious].

I saw The Judas Project when it was initially released to theaters, 11 years ago. It was hyped by my youth pastor, who had attended a special screening by the film makers, who told the attendees that the film had been selling out all over and doing very well.

I had high hopes, but they were quickly dashed. Bad acting, bad writing, low production values, and a plot you can't even call allegory. Frankly, it embarrassed me that someone claiming to have the same basic set of beliefs as me made the film - it was that bad.

I was thinking Jesus of Montreal, but I was beat to it....
BTW: The Passion was absolutely breathtaking!
