A few days ago I tried to watch the UHD of Moana 2 on my Sony UBP-X700M and it would not play. I returned it back to Amazon and they sent another. The same thing happened. No playback, it just froze right from the get-go.
My Sony is up to date as I checked for updates. Everything is basically set for automatic updates.
I am completely perplexed by this issue! I thought maybe it is because it's a BD-66 and isn't compatible with my player but I really don't know.
Any thoughts ??

Certain discs and certain players have always seemed to have random issues. The sony will play general BD66 discs fine.

1) Do you have a different player (preferably Non-Sony) to try the disc?

2) regardless how clean the disc looks clean it with warm soapy water and again when it's dry. Often teh offgassing of thes UHD cases is pretty bad

3) could try a 3rd copy from a different Batch (walmart or a non Amazon retailer) as a Hail Mary

I just played Moana 2 4K UHD disc on a Sony UPB 700 and it played fine. It does take a bit of time to load. I purchased the disc set online from Target.com.

You want to try to play another 4K disc then it it works stop the player, Eject the disc and turn off the player. Then turn the player on and try the disc again. It appears that the player may have a memory cache that thinks it is playing another disc.

AFIAK Moana 2 was only released in 4k disc as a steel book with clear hardshell plastic inner case

and would arguably not be subject to off gassing as the standard black 4K UHD cases are ...

I appreciate the feedback, I did give those ideas some thought, maybe get Moana 2 from another online vender perhaps.
I just have one UHD player..

I did clean the disc with alcohol and that didn't work. The second disc that I replaced it with also froze. I didn't bother cleaning the replacement defective disc as I thought it would be the same exact issue and result.

Next time I go to Target Ill try one more..
