Hi,

I'm planning a home theater surround system for my parents family room. A friend of ours has the MK 750 THX system in their private home theater and it sounds incredible. I forgot to look at what model Denon Reciver they had so that doesnt help. :) But I'll be sure to find out next time I'm over there.

Since my parents budget isnt as big as our friends we're looking at the MK K-series of speakers. Specifically:

K-7 L/R/Center
K-4 L/R rears
K-10 sub

I'm still trying to figure out a reciever to power them. I've chosen the Denon AVR-3803 as, so far, what I had in mind. However I've read that you need a reciver that handles 4 ohms, and I dont think the AVR-3803 does this? But I could be totally wrong (wouldnt surprise me!).

Doing the components all seperate, "reciver > pre-amp > amp" etc would drive the cost out of our range but if thats the only way, then we'll have to re-think our speaker system of choice.

I appreciate any and all help you guys and gals can give us on choosing a good reciever to power the MK's.

Thank you for your time!

Check out Marantz, I have their AV-9000 Pre/Pro/MM-9000 5ch amp and M&K S90's and the 125 Sub sounds very sweet. A friend of mine has the 6200 or 8200 Marantz receiver sounds good, lower power.

The M&K's are a clean 4 ohms. The Denons will match up very nicely with them. I have the 150 THX Ultra series hooked up to a Denon 5800 and it has been 2 beautiful years together so far..:)

Thank you Frank for your reply! I checked out Marantz and I like what I see. I'll spend some more time searching the forum for more info later tonight.

I've had the budget flashed infront of my face in detail and the AVR-3803 is basicly out of the picture (to much $). Or I find a different set of speakers to go with. We're gonna go driving around tomorrow (Sunday) and hear the different systems. I'd like to see Paradigms and Klipsch's in action.

If we still decide to run with MK's. I think my next question will be, how well will the Denon 1803 handle them? I'm planning on getting a decent reciever with all the decoding features I can get, so I dont have to upgrade for good while. And then tacking on an amp next year and using the Denon 1803 as a pre-amp. This way the MK's can be powered as they should.

This plan could all change though, I still havnt fully investigated the other brands of speakers.
