    I am upgrading my Titans & CC-170 to Studio/20s & a Studio/CC. I currently have ADP-170s as surrounds.

My question is how well will the ADP-170s mix with the Studios?

I know the Studio/20s and ADP-170s aren't timbre matched but how important is it to match surrounds with fronts?

It would be possible to also upgrade the ADP-170s to Studio-20s but I'd rather not pay the extra $ if not needed. I think the increased size of the Studio/ADPs over the ADP-170s would be difficult to sell to my wife.

I plan to stick with whatever I upgrade to now for a long time so I don't want to end up with something that is a problem.

I will jump in and give my experience.

I had a pair of Mini's which I used as surrounds when I up graded the fronts to Studio 60's. I found them great. I am planning on upgrading to Studio 20's at some late date , but it is not a priority.
( I need new Receiver and DVD player before then)

I found the Mini's great for movies and music.
I do not think you will have a problem with the ADP-170 .

The front is the main issue. Which you will have covered with the 20's and the CC.

    Good luck with it

I use B+W CDM's with ADP-150's (very different timbre). They work fine.

When a speaker is placed behind you the timbre will shift even if it is the same as the speakers up front so you can't really ever "match" them.

It will be fine to use the ADP 170's. My friend has that exact setup[IMG] The three fronts only need to be timbre matched[IMG]
