Mitsubishi 65313 vs. 65413 vs. 65513 vs. 65613 (1 Viewer)

Hi gang,

I am trying to nail down the difference between these sets. My understanding is that the 513 is a 313 with a built-in tuner and the 613 is the 413 with a built-in tuner. Are there any other differences? I also have heard that the 413 and 613 are capable of a better picture than the 313/ 513. I have no way to test this for myself. Is anyone familiar with them?

OK, I looked up some specs and discovered the following (the cabinets are different, but I don't care):

The 413 is the same as the 313, but adds NetCommand (a sort of on-screen universal remote system), "Quad Field Focus" for the picture, and a fancier remote.

The 513 doesn't have Quad Field Focus, but adds the following features:

• Higher contrast ratio (38:1 to the 413/313's 34:1)
• Upgraded version of NetCommand with 3D graphics
• Built-in ATSC/ Digital Cable HD tuner with record timer
• Red, green and blue color purity filter (the 413 and 313 only have red and green)
• 0.52 mm lenticular screen pitch (the 413 and 313 have 0.72 mm)
• Extra IR emitters (for the NetCommand, I assume)
• VGA input
• FireWire input & output
• 4 memory card slots
• extra stereo audio output
• SPDIF digital audio out

The 613 is the same as the 513, but has the Quad Field Focus.

Has anyone compared the Quad Field Focus feature? Is it worth the extra money? If not, then it sounds like the decision is between the 313 and 513 -- just have to decide if the extra features are worth the $700 or so difference.

Hi Aaron, the quad field focus does make a bit of difference regarding focus. Of course, this would only be noticeable if you compare one next to another. Besides, I believe the 513 and 613 are only $200-$300 apart. If you're really pushy about the focus, then I would recommend going for the 613. For myself, I would pick the 513. The card reader function and firewire connection are enough to get the 513 instead of the 313 or 413.

Thanks Hugo! Unfortunately, NOBODY in my area carries the 513! On the other hand, I can get the 55613 for about $2300 (possibly less from Sears, if I can find it there), which is less than some places charge for the 513 anyway. . .
