Does anyone here know if the the movie 'Missing' from 1982, directed by Costa-Gavras and starring Jack Lemmon, is available on dvd anywhere?
Or know if it's planned for release?

I'd love to have this film too Runar_R! [IMG] Sissy Spacek is an actress that I really love to watch & I this this is one of Jack Lemmon's best films. I think the story can still pack a punch today, given the terrorism throughout the world. [IMG] [IMG]

Happy to add another plug for this fine film from Costa-Gavras.

On an interesting note, Charles Horman, the missing man at the center of the story, is back in the news. His family, led by his wife Joyce (Sissy Spacek's character), have filed a lawsuit against former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. The case is finally picking up pace due to more cooperative authorities in Chile and the declassification of important documents by the Clinton administration.

Pinochet is said to have killed 3,190 political prisoners during his nearly 20-year reign and has already been brought up on human rights charges in the last few years.

Less importantly, except on sites like HTF, this makes for more interesting DVD fodder. [IMG]

    It's in your hands, Universal.

Just found out that 'Missing' is scheduled for release on november 23. Doesn't seem like it'll have any special features, but it will be WS. And it will be cheap

Hmmm............ I could have sworn I saw 'anarmorphic widescreen' with the amazon listing. But there's no mention of it.

"Dv-depot" and "deep discount dvd" both list it as anarmorphic though. Noy sure how reliable they are on such info.

    Fingers crossed

    Thanks John.

But to be honest, I couldn't resist ordering from dvdsoon even before I knew one way or the other. At that price, I'm willing to take a chance.

    (Yeah, I'm a real daredevil....)

Thanks for the info John. [IMG]

I wonder how accurate the Universal site is? I certainly would like a WS version of "Missing". If the site is indeed accurate, then I'm very disappointed that "Colossus: The Forbin Project" will be Fullscreen. I guess I'll have to keep my WS laserdisc of "Colossus: The Forbin Project". FINALLY, this film gets a DVD release!

The best book to really get an education about the issues presented in this damning indictment of American governmental involvement in Third World politics is Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent. Chomsky details how the American media's reliance on "official sources" (usually CYA-type government spokesmen) ended up actually hindering the search for Horman.
