Before I start my next major project in home improvement (the conversion of a hundred or so tapes into many silver/purple discs freeing up much needed storage space), has anyone heard anything about these?

I believe -

Friday the 13th: The Series - Paramount (at least that's whats on the end of the currently airing shows in Canada)
Misfits of Science - Universal
Max Headroom - Lorimer(?)/Columbia?
Otherworld - ????????

the latter three would be classed as 'short run wonders' but F13 is three seasons (and IIRC got some darn good ratings before being 'protested' off the air) and had some great writers and directors (David Cronenberg comes to mind) and some interesting guest stars (was just scanning tapes and noticed Keye Luke and a VERY young Tia Carrere)

Dave?
Gord?
Beuller??

I thought I remember hearing that the Friday the 13th series was being considered?

Todd, that was an unconfirmed rumor. We pretty much said so at the time (I tried to be polite about it).

Since then, absolutely NOTHING has been said by way of a commitment to the show...and in the last HTF-WB chat, noone thought to ask!

As long as we're discussing short-run shows like Misfits (which would be fun to see again), how about AUTOMAN and MANIMAL? :D

How about Man From Atlantis, Quark, and Otherworld?

Oh, Otherworld was mentioned in the first one.

Well, I wish dearly that I had news about all three of those. But I don't. Crap.

As far as I know, Man from Atlantis hasn't been seen much outside of a couple of brief syndication stints back in the '80s. I understand it was shown in the UK on Sky or UK Gold within the past few years. The pilot movie has been released on DVD in Hong Kong, I think - but it's just a transfer from the original Good Times VHS release (which is now out-of-print). The four films that introduced the series were very good, and rarely show up on TV (I only ever saw them on their first airing on NBC), while the episodes were fairly typical of SF in the late '70s. Although nowhere near as much polyester as some series (having a series star who spends most of his time in swim trunks does have its benefits).

It was originally produced by Solow Productions (Herb Solow is probably best known for his work on Star Trek TOS), and rights went to Worldvision back in the late '70s. Beyond that, I've never been able to track the series. It was strange that when SciFi was doing its rotations and revivals of older SF, they never (to my knowledge) picked up Man from Atlantis. They did run a lot of stuff that was contemporaneous with the show. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I'd buy this on DVD in a heartbeat.

I love Friday the 13th the series and if you look for it people are selling bootlets for a hellva lot of money.
I remember really getting the creeps when I watched some of these episodes. There are a lot of simularities between this and The X-files.

Misfits of Science was pretty bad and I am sure it didnt age well. Hell the Bionic Shows didnt even age well.

I do hope they release Supertrain though. ;) Anyone remember that Love Boat rip off?

Who is VCI? Is that the same outfit that did the compilation movies? The quality on those wasn't bad at all - better than I remember seeing the episodes on the air, actually.

Starlost is a show I'd buy on disc. Even if Harlan hates it. :>

I'm rooting for Max Headroom. There's always quite some interest, whenever it comes up, so I'm hoping/rooting...

Bring on Friday the 13th: The Series. One of the few shows I would buy the season sets for whatever price they wanted. I keep a pretty close eye on all things F13. Add my web site to your bookmarks and check back periodically. I'll announce it there as soon as I get word. Although, I'll probably end up getting it from David or Gord. :D

Oh man you guys brought back some memories...

Man from Atlantis and manimal would be must for me. wow. ok so maybe they would be cheesy and would see them only once but would have to get them anyway.

C'mon who did not go to the pool after an episode of Man from Atlantis and did not try to swim like him? :D

I don't know for United States, but in France it is Warner which sells the series to TV channels.
