Three of my favorite comedies ever thanks to Carl Reiner and Steve Martin (back when he was laugh-out-loud funny).:)

Rankings

1)The Man With Two Brains
2)Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
3)The Jerk
4)All of me

Dr.Michael Hfuhruhurr: Ladies and gentlemen, I can envision a day when the brains of brilliant men can be kept alive in the bodies of dumb people.

Dr.Necessiter: As you know, my research has advanced to a point where I can put her mind into the body of a gorilla.
Dr.Michael Hfuhruhurr: ...I couldn't fuck a gorilla.

Rigby Reardon: All dames are alike: they reach down your throat and they can grab your heart, pull it out and they throw it on the floor, step on it with their high heels, spit on it, shove it in the oven and cook the shit out of it. Then they slice it into little pieces, slam it on a hunk of toast, and serve it to you and then expect you to say, "Thanks, honey, it was delicious."

Rigby Reardon: I hadn't seen a body put together like that since I solved the case of the Murdered Girl with the Big Tits.

Juliet Forrest: What are you doing?
Rigby Reardon: Adjusting your breasts. You fainted and they shifted all out of whack.

Juliette Forrest: What does "Foc" mean?
Rigby Reardon: It's a slang word. When a man and a woman are in love, the man puts his -
Juliette Forrest: No, no. Here: "F. O. C."

Navin R. Johnson: "I slit the sheet, the sheet I slit, and on the slitted sheet I sit." There. I've never been relaxed enough around anyone to say that.

Navin R. Johnson: [dodging a snipers bullets] He hates these cans. Stay away from the cans!

Brook I'm happy to see you liked 'The Jerk' and 'Man with Two Brains', but an 'F' for the fabulous 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid'? A bit much innit? has this any connection with your hatred of 'Young Frankenstein'? Or just deliberately trying to wind George up? :D

George already knows my feelings. It's a movie made from clips of much better movies. I can't even remember all of what he used but why would I want to watch Steve Martin superimposed into clips cracking lame jokes when I could just watch a classic like Out of the Past, The Maltese Falcon, The Killers, etc.? I don't find it funny and I question why he couldn't have just made his own private dick comedy with out stealing scenes from better movies?

Love your new sig pic though.

And end up with the film noir equivalent of Young Frankenstein? I'm sure that would get your thumbs up.

Yes, it's a gimmick. Just like other filmmakers from Buster Keaton to Woody Allen to Ingmar Bergman have used gimmicks. Using a gimmick isn't a bad thing if it's done well, and in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid it's done exceedlingly well, and the results are hilarious.

However, I'm not the least bit surprised that someone who doesn't find Young Frankenstein funny wouldn't find Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid funny, and when that same person does find Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula funny, well, that's just an example of diametrically opposed senses of humor.
