* - I love the 2 feature length films, Bambi and Snow White. I also like all of the Mickey cartoons. The rest of these are Silly Symphonies, some of which I like, some I don't, but I don't recall which are which.

** - I own everything except Hiawatha, which I may own as a bonus cartoon on some other dvd, though I don't know for sure.

Aaah, Bambi & Snow White, two of the greatest movies of the 20th century and I've seen and own most of the shorts, thanks to the superlative Walt Disney Treasure collections.:emoji_thumbsup:

I'd like to single out the creepy, nightmarish Mad Doctor (1933), one of the best of the early Mickey Mouse shorts. :star: :star: :star: :star:

Just looking at the name I could say I'd never heard of this director, though I've obviously seen some of the films.

1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - B+
2. Bambi (I won't rate this since I haven't seen it in 25+ years)

Own: 1

I've probably seen some of the shorts but I don't recall which. I always loved Looney Tunes, didn't like Mickey, and only kind of liked some of the side stuff like Donald, the two chipmunks, and the Goofy Olympics.

Out of 4 stars:

Directors of Disney animated films are an interesting subject and I was wondering if any of them would be covered. While all (or most) of us are familiar with the films, the director's names are not particularly familiar (for me at least). Also, obviously, the direction of an animated film is drastically different from a live-action one. Not a knock on these guys at all, but when I conjure up the image of a director, I'm thinking Hitchcok or Spielberg or Bergman. Auteurs 'em all. :) Why not someone like Ben Sharpsteen, who directed Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Dumbo? Not a rhetorical question, just working through my thoughts.
