I sent a postal order to someone & wrongly addressed it - basically to "XXX Blah" instead of "YYY Blah". His bank won't accept it. What options do I have? Do I basically have to 'write off' the money involved?

If you still have your receipt, you may be able to have him mail MO back to you (or you mail him the receipt). Then one of you takes both to the post office, claim that you purchased it and made a mistake, and maybe PO will refund cash. I would ask the PO about the proper procedure, but this might work.

That's what I suspected. He's mailing the MO back to me anyway. We'll see what happens.

As long as your name is listed correctly as the "sender", the PO will refund your money (minus the actual money order fees)... no worries.
