Is anyone else as excited as I am about Minority Report?? I am a big fan of Spielberg films, and was greatly pleased by AI. At the same time, I have enjoyed just about all of Tom Cruise's films as well. This is the first time Cruise and Spielberg are working together right?? Has anyone heard about any early reviews yet? I just checked IMDB and nothing has been posted. Minority Report seems to have a rather unique script which makes my mouth water that much more... Anyone else???

Perry, I'm just as pumped as you. I read an article in Wired magazine about Spielberg. In it, he said he is departing from adding happy endings to stories that are meant to be dark, and he is starting with Minority Report. He also explained that sci-fi flicks are a great genre for him b/c the ideas are limitless. Can't wait!

I see very little first-run cinema--but this one is a definite for me. After Speilberg's success at realizing Kubrik's dark vision of AI, my hopes for Minority Report are high.

Yes, I agree with the notion of a darker ending.
Even though I wish I did not know this now. Spielberg's sci/fi vision should be something to see. Will this film take advantage of DLP in the cinema??

PS - Did Lexus design the car for the movie? If so, I'd
love to know how much the cost was.

I'm psyched about this one too. Since his reemergence in 1997 (with Lost World and Amistad) and through to the brilliant AI, Spielberg is at the most exciting period in his career since the 70s to the early 80s.

Minority Report should be great!

Ahhh, so THAT'S what the hell that car is for!

I remember seeing that car at the L.A. Auto show, and thinking "What the F**K?"

And for the love of god, spoilerize the
dark ending

crap!

I had no idea about this until I read this thread!

I saw the trailer for this again yesterday, for about the eighth time, and each time I get more and more excited.

Bring it on! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it'll open in Sweden until mid-July.

Most likely not, as Speilberg is not a big fan of DLP and wants to shoot on film as long as he can. Kinda makes you wonder if Indy 4 will be digital, with Lucas producing.

That trailer really looks good. I'm looking forward to watching it, and I also love A.I.

I was wondering about the rating, since there was none on the trailer. On the IMDB it says PG-13. Hmm.

I was a lot more enthused about this until I read an interview with one of the screenwriters who said, "Well, uh, we really didn't understand the Philip K. Dick story, so we basically turned it into an innocent man on the run movie." It still may be interesting -- and I admit I was really pumped when I saw the first trailers -- but those comments have me concerned it's going to be just another dumb action movie with SF window dressing. I hope I'm wrong, I really do.

I was afraid of this. After seeing the trailers a few times, I got the feeling this film might be another innocent man on the run. Although, I'm still faily confident we will see some surprises...I hope, I hope....

I'm also a bit skeptical about this film. Minority Report is based on a short story (relatively short). That means the screenwriters had to add a lot of material, like subplots, love interests etc. All of which almost never benefit the film.

I'm incensed every time I see the TV ad or movie trailer and they don't mention Colin Farrell. ONLY reason I'm seeing it, and unless they cut his part down to nothing so Mr. Cruise can be "THE STAR", he deserves to be mentioned.

Looks like Spielberg took a visual cue from the Wachowski Brothers. Still, A.I. was the art film, so now Minority Report is the commercial film. I'm definitely excited!:emoji_thumbsup:

Funny Spielberg/Lexus related story. During the last HTF meet in LA, our guide at 20th Century Fox was talking about the Minority Report production (which at that time was in the final stages of pick up shooting and early stages of ADR).
Spielberg is a Lexus nut, the company "gives" him every new model and only asks for some photographs of him with the cars in return. He got a new one during production of Minority Report, it cost Spielberg nothing, but it cost the movie $200,000 in lost production time that day (not the day we were there, but a day during principal photography). :D

I bought the official UK "landscape" poster yesterday! It looks awesome. One for framing methinks. I've got a feeling in my gut about this movie. I think it could shape up to be another Spielberg classic. I can't wait.
