Whats the difference between version 1 and version 2 of the paradigm mini-monitor? Is Version 2 an upgrade?
    Thanks

All the current speakers are V2s. the differences are a slightly redesigned cabinet (feels more substantial, solid), a molded plastic rear section which has the port and built in mounting bracket attachment points (for Paradigms brackets). The knit covers (still non removable) are now rounded at the edges on the front, where the V1s were completely flat. As far as I know, the internals are more or less the same. I have a pair of shielded V2 Titans, another regular pair of V2s, and a pair of V1s. If there is a difference, I can't hear it.

    I have v.1 Monitor 7's, mini-monitors, and CC350. I also have v.2 Monitor 11's and have heard v.2 Monitor 5's and 7's.
I notice no difference from v.1 to v.2. It is certainly not worth an upgrade. The Monitor 11's blend fine with the mini-monitors and CC350.
One interesting note is that I listened to the v.2 Monitor 7's and 11's. The difference was huge and I bought the Monitor 11's. The soundstage opened up dramatically and they are amazing speakers.
Hence, the 7's were moved upstairs and the 11's took their place.

    Thanks for the help.
The reason I ask, is that I just bought a pair yesterday for a great price, and In the store I was looking at the version two. I want to make sure that I didn't receive the earlier version. The monitors I received seem to look somewhat different but I am not sure. Does the cloth grill come slightly above the box on the version 2? I thought it did? The ones I received dont. I will have to go back to the store tonight and see.
Anyone else who can help me out??
    Thanks,
    Trev

The grills should be completely flush. Only the Reference series has the little bulge at the top.

My ver. 2 Mon 7s do have a raised part - not on the speaker itself, but on the cover in the front (my brain isn't functioning today, don't know what else to call it). I don't remember if the ver. 2 MMs have the same thing, but I think they might.

Do you host any demos? I'd love to hear what your system sounds like. I might just make the switch from NHT to Paradigms.

Trevor, a way you could check is compare your speakers' dimensions against what Paradigm has listed for size for the ver. 2s. All of the ver. 2s are narrower now I think.
Paradigm lists the MMs (v2s) as being:
    34cm x 21cm x 29cm
    13-1/4in x 8in x 11-1/4in
Compare with that and see if they match up.

I never have a problem with demoing the system. Unless you are visiting in Cali. though, that might not be so easy...
The minis I was looking at recently did not have the raised part, and I never noticed it on any of the other monitor series (I may be wrong). The minis that I looked at looked almost identical to my Titans, with the exception of the removable covers I think?
All the Studios that I've seen have a small "bulge" on the cabinet and a corresponding feature on the grills.

    Duane,
If your Monitor 7's have that raised part then I am sure the mini's are supposed to as well. I am almost positive thats what I saw last night. I will also measure them to see if they match those dimensions, but I think I must of been given version 1. I will have to go exchange them.
    Thanks for the help.

The Mini Monitors do have a removable grill and no plastic back.

Look at the sticker by the binding posts. Unless your dealer swapped it somehow, it says what version they are. The top of the grills on the fron of v.1 are flush with the top of the speakers. V.2 grills are taller than the actual speaker box.
