I recently finished up the first season of this new Netflix show and found it to be outstanding.

The show covers the beginnings of the special research team at the FBI trying to use what they learn from particular types of killers to gain insights that will help the profile and catch others (serial killers and the like.)

The first two, and finale episodes, are directed by David Fischer, and his artistic DNA is evident in the style, tone, and approach.

Performances uniformly superb. I found the show fascinating. Anyone else watching?

I agree with you, Neil. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting when I started, and the tone, pacing, and flow really grew on me as it progressed. Looking forward to season two.

How graphic is the violence?

Matt’s right. It’s not graphic at all, talking about rather than showing the crimes.

As soon as I finished the show I watched Fincher’s Zodiac, a stylistic and thematic cousin to the show. I was great to rediscover how great that film is, too.

For what it's worth, I've been rewatching with someone who doesn't like depictions of graphic violence, and she enjoys the show, but there's a very early moment that she didn't like and there are also crime scene photographs that she typically looks away during. Overall though, I agree with the sentiment that you don't see much on-screen, it's mostly just talked about.
