I don't think that Comedy Central has come up with a decent new show since Drawn Together (which doesn't look like it will be coming back, unfortunately). There were only a handful of good laughs in this one.

Was anyone else a little disturbed by the fact that the show *opened* with a completely tasteless 9/11 joke? Wouldn't it have made more sense to start with something that would have gotten the audience on his side before venturing into questionable territory?

I missed last night's showing, but I'll catch the rerun this weekend. I assume that his show is along the lines of his "Comedy Central Presents" routine?

Carlos is funny - without a doubt. I think Comedy Central is trying to capatilze on the offensiveness of Chappelle's Show, but they are lacking something with Mind of Mencia. Possibly restraint. I think Mencia is just trying way to hard to reach absuridity and is going way to far off. There was so much canned laughter and so little audience appeal, it makes me sad.

I watched the show and wasn't very impressed. I've seen his Comedy Central Presents show as well, and didn't care for it much. I still gave this new show a chance, but it didn't do anything for me.

His jokes seem too forced. His whole premis of, "we all should be able to laugh at ourselves" is a little over done. I get it already, just make me laugh. Unfortunately, I didn't.

What makes "Chappelle's Show" work is the fact that it's offensive in clever and funny ways (same with most "South Park"). Just being offensive isn't enough (as with the latest season premiere of "South Park!").

"I'm Wayne Brady, bitch!" Brilliant! [IMG]

I really enjoy this show. Trying to stay within the forum guidelines, all I'll say is that this is to me what "The Daily Show" is to most of you.

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

Haven't posted in a few days...It's good to be back.

No one mentioned The Daily Show in this thread. [IMG]

Also trying to stay within the forum guidelines, let's just say you assume too much.

Terrible show. A few funny moments here and there, but mostly not funny.

They ordered something like 13 more episodes for a second season. Should premiere sometime this fall. [IMG]
