Plot: Despondent over a painful estrangement from his daughter, trainer Frankie Dunn isn't prepared for boxer Maggie Fitzgerald to enter his life. But Maggie's determined to go pro and to convince Dunn and his cohort to help her.Okay, I've been watching this movie again this week and people aren't comfortable chatting about why he doesn't have a relationship with his daughter nor on this topic. I've seen other threads hinting that he hurt his own daughter perhaps out of frustration one day. Now, right from the beginning of the movie he consistently refuses to agree to train girls, in fact he's adamant about it's outright refusal. Could this be the reason or part of the reason he doesn't have a relationship with his daughter. Not sure why I'm so concerned about this. I know he obviously used to be a fighter and now trains. I haven't seen anybody else touch on this topic yet anywhere online. Could it be that his daughter wanted to or he wanted her to be a fighter, she went along with it and got hurt in a boxing fight and now she can't forgive him for that and holds that grudge all these years later. Just curious...
