Why do Mill Creek releases have incredible lengths of time between chapter stops (so that the current chapter continues upon a fade-to-black or other commercial fadeout, instead of a new chapter starting)?

The same with their repackages of movies from Sony. Most movies typically only have 4 chapters.

I don't know if it's still the case, but back when i was doing DVD/BD releases for a small label about ten years ago, the authoring houses would charge for each chapter. Less chapters = lower costs.

Their Quantum Leap BDs had something like 5 chapters.

Honestly, I didn't pay attention to any of them except that they wisely placed a chapter break after the opening credits. Anything else is negotiable, just give me the ability to skip over the 50th time I'll be hearing the theme song.

And the Knight Rider and Airwolf all-in-ones from Mill Creek (among others) have chapter breaks after the titles and before the credits, IIRC.
