Not a chance. Rare have Banjo for the cutsey market, though they appear to be making Kameo head down that route.

Has the need to establish a popular franchise blinded us from seeing a really good game? Can't a developer continuously create new characters rather than leaning on the crutch of established franchises? Sure, Rare's characters may not have the recognition of Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, or Metroid, but these games in question--Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, and Conker--are still quite recent creations. Naturally, they won't be as familiar as Nintendo's most popular characters. But that's not really the point. The point is, these characters have all been a part of really good, solid games and ultimately that's what matters.

Not at all Jeffrey. I think your going to see people focus a bit more on the franchises right now because of the added notoriety they would bring to MS's game line-up. No doubt original properties will come about an many people will be interested. With the sale so fresh in our minds though. The franschises are whats of interest right now...
