Amazon.com stil has it listed. Anyone had any luck with ordering on their site?
My order has been sitting there since 9/2. Estimated ship date: 9/12 - 9/15 ?!? I think they have just never been notified it's not coming out.
probably. dang. I really wanted this dvd.
Does anyone know what happened to this disc? It's the only Michael Moore film not on DVD. Our fine friends at MIRAMAX had this on their schedule for last fall, I believe.
If you have a multi region DVD playing the disc has just been released in the UK. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...369333-5379035 cheers
Thanks so much for the info!
I wonder if the Miramax/Disney fiasco over Moore's latest film means trouble for "The Big One" getting a DVD release in the States.....will the Weinsteins have to buy this title back and release it themselves too?
I ordered the disc from Benson's World. It came to $17 shipped. The non-anamorphic picture is pretty bad and the voices sound a bit like chipmunks at times (due to PAL speed-up?) but I feel comfortable retiring my laserdisc. Thanks again for the tip, Jonathan. Michael, I think the Moore/Miramax situation is a verboten topic around here. I know the official F911 threads don't allow discussion on this particular matter. Just FYI.
Miramax has announced a September 28th release for "The Big One" on DVD (according to The Digital Bits.)
I was on DVD File just now and here are the details for the upcoming release. I will definitely pick this up. "And although Disney elected not to release Michael Moore's uber-controversial Fahrenheit 9/11, they will give The Big One a spin on DVD on September 28th. This "funny but eye-opening" expose on American big business, the disc will include a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 2.0 surround track and bonus trailers. Retail will list for $19.95. " -Mike
Well I'm glad they're finally releasing it, I was confused and sad when the first release time fell through. Now, finally... there may be a little sunshine in my life.
Posts about another film by Michael Moore have been removed. This thread concerns the DVD release of The Big One. Other titles are off-topic. M.
This happens to be the only Michael Moore film I havn't seen, I can't wait for the DVD.
I just picked up this dvd today and sadly it is 1:33:1 fullscreen only.
Thanks for the head's up. Since it's a documentary, I wonder if it's open matte?
Just like ROGER & ME, this was filmed with handheld cameras. I'm as big an advocate for OAR as anyone, but I'm willing to give documentaries that were shot in this manner some slack. ROGER & ME looked great in its open-matte DVD, while BOWLING (widescreen) looked a little cramped in the headroom area. Both the LD and the R2 DVD of THE BIG ONE are likewise open-matte and look great as far as framing.
