Very few films are indisputably landmarks in cinema history.
Love it or hate it, LAST TANGO IN PARIS is one of them ; so how about a special edition ? I'm not asking for a Marlon Brando commentary but Bertolucci's not averse to doing them.
The furore caused by the film would provide ample material for a documentary and I'm sure there are many actors out there who could testify to the greatness of Brando's performance. A 5.1 audio track highlighting Barbieri's score would be great, too. I'm sure this'd justify its creation in sales, especially in Europe. I think it's important that films like these are documented for future generations but it needs to be done soon. I don't want to be morbid but Bernardo's not getting any younger.
(I feel guilty about saying that already - of course I wish
the great man a long life. Besides, he's got to record
comms for 1900 and THE CONFORMIST as well !)

I agree.

This DVD could use a redo. The aspect ratio is a little off and the tranfer isn't the best ever.

I'd buy a SE.
