MGM please release "The Search" 1948

    The 1948 film was either the first or second film Mongomery Cliff made. It takes place in war torn Germany and is very touching with excellent performances by all. All I have is a poor tape made when TCM showed it.

    I agree that this is an incredibly moving film, shot on location in the ruins of WWII Germany. THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK and SCHINDLER'S LIST are both coming to DVD this year. Hopefully THE SEARCH will too.

    If I'm not mistaken, the film is in public domain. I've seen it on lists from PD distributor Alpha. You can order it from their site at oldies.com for around $6. Now, I have not actually seen the DVD of this title and their quality varies from very good to poor, so you are taking a small chance, but for only $6 I would.
