This wonderful 1982 film, directed by Richard Benjamin and starring Peter O'Toole, Mark Linn-Baker (later of the Perfect Strangers TV show), and Joseph Bologna is one of my all-time favorites!
It is just crying out to me for DVD release, even as a bare-bones disc. Just make it OAR (1.85:1) and include the trailer and some liner notes, okay? I'll buy it day-and-date!
"I'm not an actor, I'm a movie star!"
"There are two things that Jews know: Suffering, and where to find GREAT Chinese food!".
It's a great coming-of-age film about both the young guy (Benjy) and the washed-out-drunk-of-an-actor, Alan Swann, who finally grows up by the time the film is over. And Joe Bologna plays the best Sid Caesar-type I've ever seen!
It would go great with the release of "The Stunt Man" (Nov. 20th from Anchor Bay), my OTHER favorite Peter O'Toole film from the early 80's.
Please please please pretty please?....
