Please consider releasing theses if you own/still own the rights to any of them........this isn't a complete list, but a few that deserve a good dvd(either S.E. or bare bones) releases....please feel free to add any more you can think of!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2(1986)-remastered 16.9 enchanced picture & sound-a 5.1 mix would be kewl, but not need-2.0 DD is fine since it's a low budget movie & is how it's originally supposed to sound. Yet most important extrawise.......inlcude the football riot massacre & Joe Bob Briggs cameo scenes intact! If the footage could not only be veiwed in a deleted scenes section & also be restored with sound effects ect & included in the movie through seamless branching(just to see how it plays),that would be great! A commentary by Tobe Hooper & maybe even cast/crew would be awsome(& interesting) as well. This is a great misunderstood over the top horror satire thats very underrated since it's the complete opposite of the classic(& horrifying) original.
Solarbabies(1986)........great canidate for a Midnite Movies release. Just a good 16.9 picture/sound transfer + trailer is all thats need to make me happy.
Foxes(1980).....as long as it's in widescreen + has the trailer. Though a commentary would be great.
The Last American Virgin( 82/83?)-classic teen sex comedy/drama thats has a following as stated in the other thrread & deserves a decent dvd release!
.......Also please keep the original artwork! Thanks

Final Exam and Wes Craven's Deadly Blessing.
I'm pretty sure MGM would have these, since they were both Embassy titles.
Non-horror cult titles I would love for MGM to release are the ninja movies Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja, and Ninja III: The Domination.

There's a UA title from 1984 that I saw a few times on cable, that's probably considered a "cult classic". If it's considered at all. The title is House of God. It was based on the book of the same title, and it has been said that the TV series "St. Elsewhere" was drawn from the same material.
Roughly, it is a comedy (with some dramatic touches) about a group of new interns at a hospital, and everything they must go through to learn their skills and put up with all the nonsense doctors will get and to just survice another day in their studies. No "Animal House", but a mostly-funny account that I have been told is more true-to-life than any non-doctor can imagine!
MGM probably has the rights to this one, and I would love to grab even a bare-bones release of this title...which has never been released on VHS, much less DVD, to my knowledge.
Fox ought to have the rights to a similar title starring Jimmy Smits, called Vital Signs. For fans of "silly doctor" films like M*A*S*H, this would make a great double feature! :)

But, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 isn't on DVD unrated, I don't believe. MGM should re-release this one. Include all the deleted scenes on the Elite VHS version.

I know TCM 2 is on dvd & it s the Unrated version, despite the R rating on the box!
Yet the transfer isn't that good from what i've read & the sound is ok,but theres no extra's besides the trailer & this movie does deserve at least some special features such as the deleted scenes from the Elite release & possibly a commentary track at the very least!
Also the new Dennis Hopper with new title font artwork is ugly! So please use the original Breakfast Club style or Teaser posters.

If they do include the deleted scenes, I hope they'll re-master them and touch them up a bit. You could hardly tell what was going on in the Elite VHS version, the quality of the deleted scenes was so poor.

I just thought of another action cult classic...
Chuck Norris' Invasion U.S.A (directed by Friday the 13th Part 4's Joseph Zito).
Of course, given the subject matter concerning terrorists, I'd say this one will sit on the shelf for a while. It's a shame too, as it's one of my favorite guilty pleasures of Chuck Norris.

THE HOUSE OF GOD was one of many UA films (Peter Bart wrote about them in his book FADE OUT, about his tenure running the combined MGM/UA) that were deemed "unreleasable." Another was NOTHING LASTS FOREVER, a futuruistic comedy shepherded by Lorne Michaels and starring other Saturday Night Live alumni.
Seven times out of ten, movies that are considered "unreleasable" turn out to be really interesting, or at least more original than the derivative material that does get out.
In short, I second THE HOUSE OF GOD and nominate NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. Let the home video viewer decide!

Wes Ray: November 20th (and perhaps it is NOW more appropriate than ever!) -

Mark: Thanks for 2nd-ing the nomination for House of God. I'm not familiar with the book you mention, and it seems to be out of print, but the 'Net's a great place to pick up used material and I might look into it; it sounds interesting. A question, though: what criteria does Peter Bart give that makes a film "unreleasable" on home video?

Anyone know if MGM still has the rights to the horror films Killer Party or The Supernaturals? Those would be cult title releases, if they do.

Mark Edward Heuck: Do you know if MGM might have the rights to The Supernaturals or Killer Party? You usually do a good job of laying down all the rights questions we have, and I hope you might be able to shed some light on this. Thanks.

I'd buy "Last American Virgin"! I recommend it to anyone who loves movies with happy endings!

A director's commentary on this one would be great just to find out what the hell he was thinking, and how he ever managed to get this movie released this way!

KILLER PARTY was and is an MGM film, albeit a negative pickup they made in the late '80's when their production was low but their video pipeline needed filling. Ironically, I have yet to see this title appear on the MGM label; it came out during the final days of their deal with the then CBS/Fox labels. So they would have this.
THE SUPERNATURALS, on the other hand, was an independent production that was released on video by Embassy. This could potentially still be theirs to release, from Embassy video's evolution to Nelson Entertainment and that subsequent inheritance. More than likely though, I would think the rights to THE SUPERNATURALS that the former Embassy had have expired and since reverted to the original producers, who could feasibly try to resell the title to another label.
So yea to KILLER PARTY, maybe on THE SUPERNATURALS. Maybe the latter is one of those titles Anchor Bay or the other independents could pick up.

Well, here we are over a year and a half later, and most of these titles (at least the ones actually owned by MGM) have indeed made it to DVD. Thank you MGM.

Now, here is a whole new batch of cult films I'd love to see in the future:

SONNY BOY [Trans World Entertainment/Polygram]

MAMA'S DIRTY GIRLS [TWE]

THE CANDY SNATCHERS [General Film/Orion]

NIGHT OF THE COMET [Atlantic/Polygram]

TOO SCARED TO SCREAM [The Movie Store/Polygram]

THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED {LA RESIDENCIA} [Orion]

HOUSE BY THE LAKE {DEATH WEEKEND} [Orion]

SLIPPING INTO DARKNESS [MCEG/Orion]

STATIC [MCEG/Orion]

THE CHOCOLATE WAR [MCEG/Orion] (see separate thread for these two as well}
