MGM was only the domestic syndicator for the new TWILIGHT ZONE series. CBS produced the show for its own network, and since at the time networks were not allowed to syndicate their own shows, sold the syndication rights to MGM.

The later syndication-only episodes were also financed by an international consortium including Canada's Atlantis Films (now merged with Alliance) and the U.K.'s London Films (founded by Alexander Korda). I don't know whether those partners would have a say or demand compensation for any future home release of these episodes.

Ultimately, CBS, or I should say Paramount/Viacom, are the people to go to for any release of these episodes. Seeing the original broadcast versions of "PALADIN OF THE LOST HOUR," "HER PILGRIM SOUL," or "MESSAGE FROM CHARITY" would be a wonderful thing.
