Whit Stillman's Metropolitan will be released by Criterion in early 2006. Source: the latest Criterion newsletter.

No word yet on the extras.

    Great news!!!

I've had it on VHS and laser and will definitely buy it for a third time. Love this one.

It is one of those movies that if I'm ever flipping around and it is on cable, I will always stop.

I just Whit would make a new film. It has been a while.

I know it's not typical of them, but do you think Universal might do a rerelease of Last Days of Disco to coincide?

And while I'm thinking of Stillman stalwart Chris Eigemann, any chances of his Kicking and Screaming making it to DVD in '06? Maybe to coincide with the DVD of (director Noah Baumbach's) The Squid and The Whale?

Of course, I still feel we're due for another Stillman period piece, this time set during the early-mid 70s.

    1. Metropolitan: Present Day (Early 90's, in this case)
    2. Barcelona: Mid - Late 80's ("The final years of the Cold War")
    3. Last Days of Disco: Late 70's - Early 80's
    4. ????

Of course, it's probably too late to have Taylor Nichols convincingly play late teens/early 20's. Oh well.

Do you remember his very short lived series a few years back? I thought it was great.
Had a strange name and I remember the line that went something like 'watching a police chase on TV in LA is the same as a snow day back East'
I doubt if it'll ever see a release on DVD but........

Ah, you're referring to "It's Like, You Know..." and was particularly memorable in that it starred Jennifer Grey as herself.

And still, this show is not out on DVD. Nobody puts Baby in the corner!

Man, Eigemann deserves better than cameos on Malcom in the Middle and Gilmore Girls.
