OK.. Heres the background... A while back (years ago actually), I had an argument with a friend, that said the $5.98 Ep was called, Garage Days Re-revisited... I kept arguing that there was no Re- ... Well, we found it, and sure enough, I lost that argument. Fast forward a few years. I used to be big into places like CD warehouse, and small buy/sell/trade music shops. I came across an "import" of Metallica songs, and picked it up for a few bucks. Anyways, it was in my collection, getting regular airtime for those few years. This year, while on a Metallica binge (they come and go), I pulled out my old albums, and was going through the liner notes and stuff, and I was surprised to find that on the inside of the front cover of that "import" I bought, were the words. Garage Days Revisited... I couldn't believe this whole time I had the first one.. Well since I have done some research, but I have not found anything conclusive. Metallica's website does not show this on their discography page, but it is on other sites as a single that was put out. German version Vertigo Records - catalog # 842219-2
Song list comprises of :
1. Creeping Death
2. Am I Evil
3. Blitzkrieg
4. Jump In The fire
5. Seek And Destroy (live)
6. Phantom Lord (live)
Can anyone tell me if this is Legit?? I hear they are worth a few bucks these days, and should be worth more later, when they are even harder to find. Not interested in getting rid of it, just want to know. Thanks for they help if anyone can provide.

Juan, I believe you are tright, this is the original "Revisited" ... the one you have.

The first Revisited was the one with AM I EVIL and BLITZKRIEG .. although it was never titled GARAGE DAYS REVISITED.

Yeah, The cover has the obligatory Metallica logo on top, a broken midevil bridge and Creeping Death on the bottom.
I posted this same question on Metallica.com's Message board, but it seems to be down right now.

I have a copy of the same CD. It is a compilation of two vinyl 12" singles that Metallica issued when Ride The Lightning came out. I remember seeing the original vinyls in stores back in 84/85 and was quite excited to finally get a copy of those on CD several years later. While the Creeping Death single was never officially named "Garage Days Revisited", it did say that on the back sleeve of the vinyl in reference to them recording their cover versions of Blitzkrieg and Am I Evil.

On a related note, is your copy of the CD showing any signs of 'laser rot'? The aluminum layer of my copy has started to oxidize and change color. It's the only CD I own that has done this.

Hope this helps,

Dan

Dan, Does this mean that its more of a bootleg than a collectors item? Mine, Luckily, is not showing signs of laser rot. I played it recently and still looks and sounds great.

How would you categorize this CD?

I have that CD, it's not a bootleg, it's an official release. It's the 12" single for "Creeping Death", mixed with the 12"-single for "Jump in the fire". I believe mine is from Music For Nations (which also released the CD of "Ride the lightning" that I own).

The vinyl EP "Garage Days Re-visited" has a different set of songs, so I agree it's a bit confusing. :)

I always hated that I had to pay more than $5.98 for that album.. Damn them!

Actually, I know the re-revisited album really well. I just never knew there was actually a revisited album. Since they never officially released it named that way. I stumbled across the "name" on the inside of the cover recently.

I too, have the "Music for Nations" Creeping Death cassette tape I was buying anything I could get my hands on back in the days of Metallica. I also have the cassette tape of the Jump in the fire single with the big orange beast on the cover. And a few select other imports from Metallica. I still play them. Great band until the Black album. But I've already expressed my views in the other thread.:frowning:

Well, Metallica.com message board member has confirmed that this is not an official release, rather a "bootleg" of two singles that came out. Oh well, its still a gem in my collections of the Glory years of metal for me. Bands like Iron Maiden (w/ Bruce Dickinson), AC/DC (early stuff), Black Sabbath, Testament and the likes were responsible for my music appreciation and development as a well adjusted member of society... Thanks for your input guys.
