Are there any headbangers on this forum? I would be interested in hearing from some of you. As a 38 year old male, I still find myself listening to most metal and hard rock. Just can't grow out of it I guess. :D :D

Well, I'm 28 and I'm sure I'll still be into similar music 10 years from now. The last few years I have really gotten into Dream Theatre, Fear Factory (RIP), Tool, and especially Iced Earth. Of course my all time favorite albums are the big 3 by Metallica - Lightning, Puppets, and Justice.

Another metalhead here. I've been mostly listening to the newer metal acts (Iced Earth, Evergrey, Symphony X, Dream Theater), but I'm also a fan of more classic metal like Iron Madien, Scorpions, Van Halen.

I hate to admit this, but I'm a huge closet metalhead of all forms of the genre. I'm 30 now, but back in college when Metal was passe, I was peer pressured into selling most of my metal collection because metal was on the outs and I was "maturing". I sold some great albums by Tora Tora, Sleeze Beez, Bang Tango, LA Guns, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Beau Nasty, Roxy Blue, etc. that not only do I wish I had back, but you cannot find them anymore as they have gone out of print. E-bay is your best bet if you are lucky.

I listen to harder core stuff too like early Megadeth, and Metallica. My favorite band is Kiss (especially live) and I listen to mostly hard rock type stuff today (Tool, etc.). When I was in high school, Metal was all I listened to (even the hair stuff like Ratt, Poison, Motley), but now I have broadened my musical scope much more to include all genres, but Metal is what I listen to when I need a pick me up.

A 17yr Metallica Fan, 6 yrs in METCLUB and shook the hand of James and Jason in '98. In high school, metal was for 'burnouts' so I did not advertise my love. I saw Judas priest in concert in '86, '88, 90's and Halford w/fight a couple of times. Regretably, I only saw Megadeth once just recently in a club AWESOME! Slayer, Iron Maiden, Anthrax (Belladona era). I've seen Motley Crue, White snake, Accept, DIO, Ozzy, Sabbath...Longass list.

My first concert was the CLASH OF THE TITANS tour with Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and a bunch of unknowns called Alice in Chains opening.

Like Evan, I sold most of my collection in college. Once in a while I wish I had my Seasons in the Abyss back! I've recently rekindled my love for Tool, however, and I really enjoy System of a Down.

I'm a huge metal fan, although the stuff that's popular in the U.S. right now is not my cup of tea. There's a lot of great stuff coming out of Europe. I used to be so into Megadeth, Metallica, OverKill, Testament, Anthrax, Annihilator, etc. Now I really like melodic stuff like Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Rage, and Therion. I wish that stuff was more popular in around here.

I'm a part-time metalhead, meaning I only listen to metal when I'm drunk. My wife is the full-time metalhead.

I knew metalheads were out there on this forum. I have (was/am into) most of the major acts of the 80's including Def Leppard, Poison, Motley, Tora Tora, as well as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Exciter, OverKill, Maiden. I am currently into lots of the Nu stuff out there including Disturbed, Systematic, Endo, Drowning Pool, SOAD, Stereomud, Skrape, Crossbreed, Hatebreed, etc. This year put a dent in my wallet with all this stuff I finally discovered. Anybody need some MP3's, give me a buzz. I have over 500 cd's, 99% metal.

Metal was my first love, and it still is my favorite. When I first heard the opening chords of "...And The Cradle Will Rock" by Van Halen waaaaay back when, it was all over baby :D I am still a die hard metal fan, but am not much into today's "alternative" stuff. I still listen to WASP, AC/DC, Ozzy, Scorpions, Maiden, Deep Purple.........

Yeah baby ... Metal Rules :)
Been into Metal since 1984. Started with some Twisted Sister and Maiden. Then gratuated to some heavier stuff like Slayer, Possesed, Death, Metallica, Morbid Angel and the like.
I am 31 now and still listen to it but I cannot say that I bought a Metal record in at least 4-5 years. Still love me good thrashing, but todays bands are still just pretenders to the real heavy stuff of the yesteryear.
New stuff I like is Dimmu Borgir and some band called Catastrophic.
Here is a good site that you can get Metal News updated daily: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net
The guy who writes it has been in the scene for at least 20 years and lives in my neoghbourhood. This is the only source of Metal News on the net. All the other "news" sites get their news from him.

I am almost 32 and still listen to metal! I really don't care what other people think. I still go to shows (although not as often as I'd like to) and YES I still wear black, concert T-shirts of my favorite bands!

I've come to realize that after a certain age, I pretty much start listening to my old stuff over and over. Metallica (older), Pantera, Megadeth, Ozzy, Slayer,Iron Maiden, AIC....and the MOTHER of ALL metal bands....SOD!!!!!!!! (For all you young 'uns out there, that is NOT System of a Down.)

Some newer stuff I do like: Godsmack, System of a Down, Disturbed, Sevendust, Linkin Park.

Any recommendations out there for new metal to "experiment with", drop me line or reply to this thread.

Let's keep this thread going!!

PS - My wife has been insisting on me replacing some of my older "well broken in" T's. You know the ones I'm talkin about, with the holes and cut off sleeves that look more brown than black these days. Anyplace online I can buy older metal/concert T's????

Right on Al. Wish I had my concert T-shirts from years ago. That's all I wore for about 10 years. Had one for every day of the month.
I went to this "rock" club in Orlando, FL about 20 years ago wearing my trusty Twisted Sister t-shirt. They wouldn't let me in because they didn't allow t-shirts. I asked, "Is this a rock club?". The guy replied, "Yes." I said, "Well this is a rock t-shirt." Still wouldn't let me in!

GUNS 'N ROSES!!! :D
it's dream theatER not dream theatRE
errrr, that's US v. UK spelling, so if you're east of the Atlantic, "theatre" is correct... ;)
EDIT: oops, sorry, realised you were referring to the name of a band, in which case their choice of spelling their name has precedence and UK spelling is in this case wrong. my mistake :b

I am 31, always listened to metal, always will. I won't even start a list because it would be too long, my favorite is Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society (Zakk is the coolest and IMO the best guitarist alive) and of course the Ozzman is also a favorite.

I'm 23, and a huge Metallica fan. I've been a Metclub member for 6 years and met James and Jason backstage in 98. Other Metal bands i'm into are Rammstein and System Of A Down, and my second fav band Tool who put on a spectacular show down here in oz last week which I attended.

33, and just picked up Motorhead's first Bronze album, Overkill. It rocks, but it's a bit different than the Motorhead that was to follow, as it's a lot more bluesy. It still rips, but it doesn't have that locomotive rhythm that became their trademark.
Anyway, yeah, I've loved metal pretty much all my life. :emoji_thumbsup:
