After becoming a mid-season replacement that actually found an audience, Medium starts its second season with the conclusion of the 2-part story dealing with Captain Push (Arliss Howard) on the brink of death, while Allison has to figure out the clues to stop a serial killer. Airs on NBC at 10 p.m. EDT.

Patricia Arquette just won an Emmy for her portrayal of Allison Dubois, a psychic who's also a homemaker with 3 children and a sideline job with the DA, check it out.

In the three month absence during the summer, I forgot what a really good show this is.

Although I still think Glenn Close deserved the Emmy for her role in "The Shield" last season, Arquette and the entire "Medium" cast are excellent. This show has a mood and tone that is not found on any other network series I can remember. Much of that is conveyed through Arquette's very real performace and the stories don't seem as stale as many other new shows. Nobody else in a main role on any other series can look like they really just got out of bed as well as Arquette. Looking forward to more.

I do like the show and my wife is a huge fan. Last nights show was good but we both kept saying when Patricia was on screen "now that's what got her the Emmy". I mean come on, my 5 yo daughter can fake a cry better than that.

No way did she deserve an Emmy, I'm not even sure she deserved to be nominated.

The thing I like about this show is that there are so many little moments of family life that get the short-shrift on other shows, and it build up the duBois family structure, and lends gravity to the situations where Allison has to choose between her calling/gift and her family's welfare (emotional, psychologically, financially), and having Joe deal with her absences (due to solving crimes) as well.

I admit that scene when she was crying at the hospital was horrible.
Other than that one scene, I think she portrays the character really well.

Good episode I thought.

This episode was good, don't get me wrong, but it felt like a bit of a let down after the great build-up that was Part 1. I did feel sorry for Capt. Push. I mean, the guy's in a coma for 3+ months waiting for Allison to finish the dream he's been stuck broadcasting ever since that first night.

Can somebody let me know the ending to last nights show? My MOXI DVR only recorded 50 minutes so I got up to the point of her talking to the Captain in the hospital after the task force meeting. Please......

Thanks,

Jim

Allison and Push talk about the killer being the natural son. Push talks about being in a fog since May.

Allison tells Push that he's the only one that can ID the guy, the boy from the past. Push just wants to find his way back out of the fog.

The DA uses Ms. Kane to draw out the serial killer at an arena event (women's basketball). The task force goes undercover, looking for a 22 year old male. Push wonders how the serial killer would continue of M.O. of being a grabber of the women, and do it at the arena in the open. Allison is also undercover, serving food. A young man accosts Ms. Kane, and get the cops nervous, but it was a false alarm. After the game ends, nothing happens, and all the undercover folks congregate, and the D.A. has Ms. Kane put into protective custody back to the hotel and asks for a police escort for her. Ms. Kane has her schedule reviewed for another game to set up the next sting operation. Then Ms. Kane shakes hands with Push, who's in a wheelchair, and lets an officer takes Ms. Kane into protective custody. Push's spidey-sense kicks in, screams "Hey, officer, hey, Isaiah!" The officer turns around, and Push stands up and shots the officer down. The Push collapsed to the floor, and Allison rushes to Push's side, and contends that Push knew who the serial killer was, but Push tells her that since he was sitting in the wheelchair, he had a lower point of view and noticed the officer was wearing high-top sneakers, and what officer would wear such shoes on the job.

Later, Allison is in bed with her husband, he asks if she has had any dreams, and she says she did, and he say he had one too, and asks her if she's ready for what's next, and she agrees, and he does as well.

Thank you Patrick. I appreciate the update. I take it Push was ok after collapsing? I read somewhere they wanted him for more shows so I figured he was going to be ok.

Jim -

Our Time Warner Scientific Atlanta HD DVR also cut out of this episode after 50 minutes. Weird. Thought it was a fluke with our machine, but if it happened on multiple platforms and cable systems, then I'm officially curious as to what happened.

Patricia doesn't do the best crying ever :lol but I love how they've built this complicated marrige on the show. Its the most realistic one I've seen on tv in a while.

Tom,

Somebody else on another forum said the same thing happened to them. Might have been an issue with KNBC4 in L.A. At least I wasn't alone. I was thinking I goofed setting up the recording.

I just figured out a new way to exasperate my wife (who fortunately does have a good sense of humor...)
Always refer to this show as "MILFium".

Patricia Arquette tends to be the reason I watch the show, but I always forget about it and I'm so far behind that the season premiere made no sense and so I haven't tuned in again.
Guess I'll just have to wait for DVD

mmmm Patricia Arquette.

After a so-so wrap up to the cliffhanger, this series has really hit the ground running on all 4 cylinders these past few eps. It amazes me all the different ways they come up with for Allison's powers to manifest themselves.

I really love how they tie all her visions into solving a crime or circumstance or something. Everything has a purpose and her visions give her a purpose.

I'm just happy that her husband doesn't think her as a loon and put her into a mental ward for her powers and sometimes psychosis from the powers.

Like previous posters mentioned, the best part about the show is the family aspect. It's not sitcom or dysfunctional, but just regular 'ol folks trying to survive.

Last week's and tonight's episode were prime examples of this. I love the characters, even the two oldest daughters. They played off of the oldest daughter's "abilities" and it was really emotional in the payoff without being sappy.

The cases are still interesting, too.
