I have a closet that I keep a cable box, amp, and PC in. The closet door is not louvered, so it gets pretty warm in there if I close the door. I was thinking of getting a fan and installing it in the top of the closet.

I wanted something less than $100 and I don't want to have it permanently wired in to the house. I'd rather just have something that plugs into an outlet (I have an available outlet in the closet) so it'll be an easy install.

Do you this this product would be a good idea?

( at first I thought you meant you are a fan of media closets...that didn't make sense, tho!)

Does the fan have to be small and thermally controlled? I think I'd just get a little box fan for $20 and plug it into a switched outlet, with the fan set on low speed. It would be cheap, quiet, and easy.

The real question is, where would the fan blow to? Where would air enter the closet? I imagine you've already got that firgured out, though.

That looks like it will work, but as chuck noted, it will have to exhaust somewhere. Are you going to cut a hole in the wall or ceiling? No need to worry about air entering the closet - it'll get un under and around the door frame, unless the door is air tight.
