McIntosh has announced the arrival of the MX180 A/V Processor (priced at $17,000 and available this month) with RoomPerfect calibration, and primed for both direct-to-home streaming, 4K and future 8K content. The preamplifier includes 16 balanced audio outputs for 15.1 or 9.1.6 configurations and supports all major immersive audio formats, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro and Auro-3D.
The MX-180 includes 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz resolutions on all seven UHD HDMI ports, comprising five inputs and two outputs. Each HDMI port supports HDCP 2.3, 4:4:4 color, Rec. 2020, Dynamic Lip-sync, 3D Video pass-through, and ALLM, QFT, QMS, and VRR. HDR is covered with advanced formats, such as static and dynamic HDR, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision (plus low latency). Both HDMI outputs can output one or two sources to two separate screens, and one enables ARC and eARC.
