my current system consists of an ead theatermaster encore, aragon 8008bb, 8008x3b, and pioneer dv-c302d. i was considering upgrading the encore to the ovation-8 at a cost of $1800 so as to be compatible with all the new formats and allow for analog bypass. honestly though, i'm most concerned with the integrity of the music. i'm not interested in 7.1, 8.1, 10.2.... after looking around, i found the mccormack map-1 which appears to be a completely analog preamp. also, with the unveiling of the mccormack udp-1 universal player at ces 2003, the map-1 is becoming even more appealing. not to mention that fact that i can sell the encore on the used market and pickup the map-1 for close to $1300. i would like some input from owners of the map-1 in regard to what they find to be the best and worst things about the map-1. from where i sit, it looks like a real winner.
