If anyone's seen the half-hour content, please post whether you think it's worth the extra few bucks it'd cost to get the set at BB.

    Thanks!

Sorry to hijack your thread but is that bonus disc on both the single and 2-disc versions of Master & Commander? I can't quite read what the online version of the ad says.

    http://bestbuy.dailyshopper.com/inde...iqueid=3160975

I am having a friend of mine pick me up a copy (if they still have the bonus DVD) at lunchtime since he goes to lunch two hours before I do.

The text in the ad says (about the bonus disc):

Thank you. I am hoping they still have the bonus disc on the Collector's Edition by the time he goes to lunch at 11:30.

I just got my hands on Master and Commander. I popped the bonus DVD into my PC here at work and it has the film's trailer as well as seven coming attraction traliers. I can't watch the bonus featurette right now but it looks like it may be interesting after seeing the first minute or so.

8 trailers? How long is the actual featurette? 30 minutes might be worth it, but probably not if it's just a quickie.

the add said 21 minutes. The web site said 31 minutes.

I have not watched mine yet but I am guessing the feature is 21 minutes and the trailers add another 10 minutes. Just a guess. Randy B A

I have not watched mine yet either. On a side note, the disc is packaged in the actual box (for the 2 disc set), not floating around somewhere in the store where you can't find them. The 2 disc set has a sticker on it saying it is in there, but I could not find a single one disc version that said the disc was inside.

Haven't watched mine yet either, Aaron. If you watch it in the next day or so, let me know what you think. Right now I'm bummed because I decided to go with the single disc plus bonus disc at Best Buy and just found out that Sam's club is selling the 2-disc version for less than $19. My local Sam's probably doesn't have that price, but if they do, I may return the single disc version (paying shipping at their online store will put the price back above what I am willing to pay).

I don't watch Letterman much any more, but when I do I look for you in the audience. No sightings yet.

Wow! Too bad I'm a Costco guy -- they're selling it for $26. I splurged the extra $4 for the BB version.

(That said, if anyone sees it at Costco for under $20, please let us know!)

If you see an old Letterman rerun where Jackie Chan swings from the balcony, keep an eye on the balcony! [IMG]

Incidentally, for anyone in the Palm Beach area, the Best Buy in Boynton had TONS of all three versions, with bonus disc, as of 10 am this morning. In general, they tend to sell out of those things more slowly than other BBs in the area.

All 3 Best Buys I've visited, in 3 different cities *immediately* sold out of the Collectors edition set. Is this a phenomeon limited to Wisconsin? Did our stores just get short-shipped? Or is that happening elsewhere too?

The BB near my office in Ft. Lauderdale tends to sell out of the goodies very quickly, but the one near my house in Boynton Beach usually has plenty, even after a day or two.

BB.com is sold out, too. I got mine from Buy.com with a free book.

The BB in Wilkes-Barre, PA had TONS of all three versions of the release in a big cardboard standee display near the front of the store. There were plenty available with the bonus disc sticker. This was yesterday.

Sounds like Best Buy mis-allocated these. When I type my Los Angeles zip code in "local store pickup" for the 2 disc version, there is only one store that pops up as having this in stock. Usually for any title I get dozens of results. [IMG]

MY Costco (Concord, CA) did not have the S.E. Version. They did have what looked like the S.E. Version for around $18.95 but it was the regular version with a "book" similar to what was done with SEABISCUIT. So beware....

As I suspected, my local Sam's Club did not have the deal that is on the website. They didn't even have the 2-disc version and had the single disc priced at $19.89, same as the Wal-Mart next door. Their DVD prices suck, often higher than Wal-Mart. I think my wife saves on some stuff that she buys there (it's her membership), but I seldom bother to go there.

So, I'm keeping the single disc + bonus that I bought at Best Buy.

Aaron, if you're still following this thread...I just noticed you are in Florida now. Guess I can quit watching for you on Letterman. When did you move?
