I'm wondering if anyone can comment on the differences in DISC 1 of the Master and Commander releases? Is the 1-disc version just disc-1 of the 2-disc version? Or is it completely different?

I'm interested in the featurette on recording the sound for the cannons and the multiple position microphones, but I'm not sure that and the nicer packaging justify nearly twice the cost.

    Thanks [IMG]

I'm not exactly sure, but I think that you do actually get "Disc One" if you go for the single disc. But I recall reading that Disc one only had one minor extra on it anyway and everything else is on disc two

Yes - both DVD One of the two-disc set and the sole platter of the cheaper version are absolutely identical. The Gift Set simply adds DVD Two and the paper materials.
