Nelson Au said:One thing the episode reminded me of is an episode of the original Battlestar Galactica which I only saw once. It involved Starbuck being stranded on a planet with a damaged Cylon. They become friends and I think he never gets off that planet. It might have been part of the Galactica 1980 series. It was memorable. Of course not as technically well done in terms of location and effects.
One small nitpick I had was Simmon's iPhone. I know she said Fitz modified the battery, but it sure worked a long time!
I'm still bugged that Simmons and Fitz relationship and how it will evolve. I am one of those who liked that they were a couple. I guess we'll see if they really are able to open that portal back to the planet and retrieve Will.

I'm continuing to really enjoy the season. The show keeps getting better and better, and finding new directions in which to go.

Adam Lenhardt said:Tonight's episode was easily my favorite of the entire series. Freed from being a Marvel ancillary exercise, it was able to tell a terrific standalone story on its own terms -- and did. The comparisons to The Martian are obvious, but it's not really that story since Jemma had Will.
I know there are a lot of people out there rooting for a Fitzsimmons endgame. I love their dynamic together and their close relationship, but I never really bought them as serious romantic partners. They just seem too much like giggling schoolchildren together.
By contrast, Jemma's relationship with Will was a real adult relationship. They went through a real crucible together, and they had an adult dynamic together. I believe that relationship.
And so we discover why Fitz's heroic rescue of Jemma is actually so tragic. And when Jemma's done telling Fitz why she needs to go back, he doesn't hesitate, not even for a second. He knows she's in love with him, and he's going to do everything he can to get him back to her, even though it kills him. That's love too, of the purest sort. As is the look she gives him back; not the romantic love, but something deeper and purer and more resolute: he is the man she'd always believed him to be.
Wonderful hour of television, anchored by an extraordinary performance from Elizabeth Henstridge and a very able assist from Dillon Casey.
