In this case, I don't mind that they brought Simmons back so quickly because her disappearance was such a tiny part of the finale. It wasn't one of those circumstances where it was tied to a previous season-long plot arc where Simmons heroically sacrificed herself in some very dramatic way and thus required some equally dramatic and lengthy resolution. Her disappearance happened during the tag of the finale and was what, a 30 second scene at most? I'm kinda glad that didn't turn into a long arc in this season.

Why does it matter if they have Skye/Daisy's picture? That was a poor excuse for giving over Lincoln.

The show's really good so far this season. I liked the Fitz-Simmons stuff very much. Those two continue to hit every right note in their scenes alone and together. The May fight sequence was terrific, and Hunter's absurd fight was fun. The stuff with Lincoln and Daisy is getting better too.

"Eyes up here!" Great line referring to Coulson staring at the T-Bird. I guess Lola is no more? That would be a shame.

I found the Daisy/Lincoln sequences the weakest in last night's episode. I'm not feeling the romance there if that's the goal either. The Fitz Simmons scenes, Coulson and his nemesis scenes and the Hunter and May stuff was great. A little Asian girl just kicked your ass. [emoji4]

The last scene was the surprise where Coulson makes the deal to work in collaboration with the Government. Makes sense and you can feel his weariness with constantly fighting other factions.

Oops the last scene with Simmons was the surprise.

That reminded me a bit too much of one of Lost's season finales and the characters shouting "We have to go back!" Hope it resolves better than Lost did.

Agreed. A big part of why so many people hate Skye/Daisy, is that they show often puts itself in positions where we have to hear about how special she is without it ever being properly justified.

What I liked about the dinner is that it WASN'T a romantic gesture. Fitz was taking Bobbi's advice and giving Simmons something new that's positive instead of trying to force her back into the old. He was being a good friend. And man, Elizabeth Henstridge is acting the crap out of Simmons's PTSD. You feel it viscerally. And while Henstridge is obviously a beautiful woman, I like that they didn't glam Simmons up right after she got back. In the closeups, you could see how the ceaseless sandstorms wore away at her face, and she was covered in cuts and scrapes. She looked like someone who'd been through a major ordeal, and it really helped sell it.

I wonder why she needs to go back.

Loved that they used subtitles for the drunken Brit conversation between Hunter and his "mate".

I believe that them having the picture of Daisy means that they can plaster it all over the news saying "beware alien threat" like they did with Lincoln, and that runs counter to what Coulson and Daisy are trying to do with the new team by keeping them (and her) under the radar. Plus, it also puts a bullseye on Daisy so Coulson felt the need to protect her on a personal level as well.

Agreed on the FitzSimmons stuff.

I have no idea if Nick Blood's accent for Hunter is real, but I often feel like I'm watching someone from a Monty Python movie. (That's a good thing.)

Well, he was born in London, so there's that...

Really intense episode. I had no idea what was coming at the end, and it made for a very compelling hour.
Sorry to see Blair Underwood go
but I imagine that will take the story in a few new directions.

Next week looks good with revelations of Simmons' time on the alien (Kree?) homeworld.

I am not so sure about that spoiler.

Also, getting a bit tired of Hydra and Ward storylines. It's not as much Ward as that Hydra plot is overdone.

The shoes could have been someone else's.[emoji4]. On the other hand it could add more fuel for May.

It's also possible there was a last second rescue made before the explosion. There are inhumans that can teleport, you know! Don't forget that May tipped off Coulson that someone needed help.

Not that this really means anything, but
Blair Underwood's IMDb page lists him being in 22 episodes of SHIELD for the third season.

Prevailing theory around the 'nets is that

Blair Underwood is Lash. Notice no body shown, only Von Strucker exits the store and no other goons, and he looks scared as shit when he does. Like something serious went down in the store that we didn't see.
