A buddy of mine recently upgraded to a pair of Martin Logan Aeons as mains, and is trying to plan out future upgrades. He's a bit stumped on what center channels might work well with his Aeons. Are there any alternatives to a Martin Logan center that will match up well with ML mains?

I don't think he will find an alternative other than martin logan. (The same goes with most speaker brands)

The Martin Logan Cinema in black can go for less than $1395.

Perhaps the larger ML Theater which is $2595. It comes with a stand while the Cinema needs one which can add another $200.

If he can't afford the center perhaps he should get a different brand.

I don't think he's so much worried about the cost as he is curious about what options he has. So far he hasn't found any, but we were both wondering if there were any viable alternatives to the ML centers.

i am currently using martin logan sl3's with a bohlender graebner 220dx center channel powered by an aragon 8008x3. i went with the bohlender because of its lower profile and the price. the martin logan theater center channel is just too large and tall. to my ears the bohlender has a warmer slightly less open sound compared to the sl3's, but i do prefer that warmer sound. i have not done any direct comparisons between the martin logan theater and the 220dx. i am very happy with this combination.

Hi,

I am a big ML fan. In terms of sonic matching I think that your best bet is to keep with Martin Logan. Maggies, although a panel design, are completely different in terms of how they actually work compared to ML's. In some ways with Martin Logans you may not even need a center channel because they image so well.
