LAS VEGAS, NV, January 7, 2009 – BenQ announced today that the company will debut the world’s first pocket projector with integrated USB reader – the BenQ GP1 – at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show held January 8-11 in Las Vegas, NV. Although weighing a feather-light 1.4lbs., the GP1 is packed with class-leading, high-end features that outshine competitor models: 120% NTSC, 100AL, detachable iPod dock, integrated speaker, and 20,000+-hour lamp life. The ultimate on-the-go digital lifestyle device, the GP1 stands out from the crowd with its integrated USB reader, enabling users to easily run movies, pictures, and office applications directly from a USB thumb drive without the need for notebook attachment.

The GP1 also amplifies enjoyment and impact of various pocket/portable devices via connection to Mobile Internet Devices, digital cameras, personal multimedia players, PDAs, iPods, iPhones, Smartphones, gaming consoles, and laptops for viewing up to an 80” diagonal size.

Boasting anytime, anywhere projection with its unrivaled portability and brilliance, the native SVGA GP1 is ideal for all users. The versatility of the integrated USB port provides users a new level of freedom. Whether it’s in the coffeehouse, at the office or inside a cramped cubicle, traveling business professionals can host spur-of-the-moment presentations with little more than a thumb drive.

For photographers, interior designers, realtors, and others who demand color precision and brilliance, the GP1’s unrivaled 120% NTSC, 100AL, BrilliantColor® technology, and proprietary 3D Color Management project photos, design renderings, and videos (such as virtual home tours) in high-impact color, even in fully-lit settings. Compared to the approximate 80% NTSC of non-LED projectors, the GP1 noticeably outperforms with bolder, more deeply saturated hues across a broader color gamut.

For families, the GP1 is terrific for toting on vacation, to sleepovers, to grandma’s, and more – load movies or family photos/video onto a USB thumb drive and enjoy large-screen displays anywhere. Kids can add instant wow to sleepovers by connecting to gaming consoles or DVD players. Operation is a breeze with auto play modes that get content up and running fast, as well as instant music with digital sound through the integrated speaker.

Its palm-sized design makes the GP1 a natural pairing with other pocket devices such as iPods, Smartphones, PDAs, and digital cameras to bring a greater dimension of enjoyment to these everyday devices that would otherwise only display content on their tiny screens. Ample connectivity includes D-Sub, Composite, and USB inputs, and PC audio output. A detachable iPod docking station is available as a clever option.

The 10-80” image via a 1.92 throw ratio is adjustable with digital zoom and preset picture PC and A/V modes, which include four customizable user modes.

The GP1 will be available March 2009 through the BenQ e-store and other channels at an MSRP of $599.
