According to MusicTAP:

"Warner Brothers will release a pair of Mark Knopfler albums, Shangri-La and Sailing to Philadelphia as DualDisc releases. Both titles are scheduled for December 14."

Marc, ya'all's will like the Knopfler DVD-A-Dualthing-ey. I have the SA-CD. I got it and Paul Weller's STUDIO 150 from the U.K. Hint: if you like good rockin' the Weller one is the pick. The Knopfler album is very well recorded, better than Weller's that ain't chopped liver. The stereo has an amazing soundfield that rivals the lofty M/C mix. You wish the sultan would swing a bit more but SHANGRI-LA is a very good laid back album. Going by the SA-CD I'm so sure you're gonna like it for sound quality, if the thing-y plays in your players...?;) :)

Lee,
Do you have any more info about the Sailing disc? That would definitely be a double-dipper for me. Thanks.

I'm sure the Sailing SACD will be an import from Europe, as Warners owns the rights for North America.

Expect to pay big bucks for it - much like the Shangri-La SACD.

I saw that the DVD-A version of Shangri-La is coming out this Tuesday, 1/11 and am curious if it is 24-bit/192kHz? If so, which version to go with, the pricey SACD or the DVD-A?

Now they say they are DVD Audio + cd pack...? Not Dual Disc..

Danny,

Wouldn't you wait for the DVD Audio version?

Jesper,

That's what I read as well...it's a DVD-A packaged with the CD, much like the Flaming Lips' "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots."

So, which version to buy?
