I am looking at a used Denon 5700 to replace my Marantz SR7000. Is this considered a worthwile upgrade? I was thinking of going to separates eventually anyway because the Marantz at times can seem underpowered. I would like the power that separates can provide but do not really want to spend that kind of money now. If any can offer any insight as to the differences between these two receivers, please let me know. Thanks

I have had first hand experience with the 5700. This is a mighty powerful yet sweet sounding receiver. I compared it side by side to the 4802 and it clearly sounded better as I felt it had way more guts than the 4802. Movies (5.1) also sounded tremendous with the 5700. For some strange reason, the rear soundstage seemed to collapse on the 4802 but the 5700 was a whole different story.
I would definitely reccomend the 5700 but it does not do any 6.1 decoding, in that aspect it wouldn't be an upgrade but it does deliver a serious punch. [IMG] [IMG]
