Dennis, the Marantz player looks good on paper. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the '8300 would be made available in the US, but I could be mistaken. If I am reading the Japanese web site correctly, the '8300 will sell for ¥138,000, which comes to $1084.99. Even if Marantz jacks up the price in the US, it still could be reasonably priced. Thanks for posting the info.

Keith, from what I have seen the 8300 will list for about $2k here. The multichannel SACD 8260 will list for $1,049.99 and should be out any day and I may very shortly have my arm twisted to buy one. The 8300 will of course play DVDs and DVD-A.

Phil, thanks for the info. If you do get the '8260, please post a review. Too bad the '8300 will cost so much more here than suggested on the Japanese web site.

What's disturbing me right now is that the 8260 will have the better 4397 DACs while it seems Marantz chose the 4392s for the 8300. Can't wait to hear Phil's report on the 8260...
