Marantz has announced the availability of the $2,499 8K 11.2-channel surround AV7706 preamplifier, hot on the heels of recent 8K-capable receiver announcements by the same company. The preamp includes XLR and RCA pre-outs and proprietary HDAM circuitry for “optimal” channel separation, minimal crosstalk and enhanced signal to noise ratio. The unit supports all common immersive audio formats, such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization, DTS Virtual:X and Auro-3D.
“The AV7706 enables the next chapter of entertainment with the highest quality, crystal clear viewing experience and masterful-quality external power amplification for the most demanding active speakers,” said Joel Sietsema, President, Marantz. “Our team continues to build on our storied 68-year history to set the standard for high-performance home cinema. I guess my one lingering question is whether to stay with Marantz, or change to Anthem for the ARC over Audyssey. Marantz is cheaper for me, which is helpful.

Marantz just confirmed our allocation of the new AV7706 11.2 Channel Pre-pro Processor will be delivered to my store Friday, October 23rd.

We'll immediately put one on display/demo in our showroom!

I expect I'll be happy with my AV7703 for a few more years.
Same here. Marantz did such a great job with my 7702mkII that it's one of the last things in my system I'd be looking to upgrade anytime soon. Zero interest in 8K.

Wonder if Anthem will soon come out w/ a new revision. The AVM-60 is apparently circa/nearing 5-yo now -- it was introduced during CEDIA back in Oct 2015. I don't imagine I'd need anything more than the AVM-60, but would be nice to get it discounted some as it gets superseded/replaced by a new model, if that happens in near future...
