Anyone seen a review of this receiver or own one? How are the internal amps in this model? ie will they bench really underspec like the 7200's did or is the THX spec give us more confidence that it will be more powerful.

Given its similar price to the outlaw and rotel pre amps its on my list as to use as a pre amp and maybe use its internal amps for the rears etc.

I had the 8200 for about a month. It has excellent power. I played challenging soundtracks without any trouble at all. Its musical ability is wonderful. The Marantz can be a little too warm for movies though. Its up to you if you like the sound.

My 8200 was returned due to its trouble in picking up a digital signal. It took a full 2 seconds to pick up a signal from my sony DVD player (optical or coax connection, it didn;t matter) and also had a split second delay when playing CDs through a digital signal. I know that some DVD players work better with the Marantz receivers and will give less of a delay, but I believe that a receiver (especially a $1500 receiver) should be able to play any digital signal without much of a delay- if any!

If you can deal with the delay - the 8200 is a great piece!

Andrew,,

I have one,,Just haven't connected it as of yet.

Once we get the family room furniture issue settled and set-up I will let you know my thoughts.

BTW,,The unit measures identicle to the Denon 5800 in size..
