Marantz 7400 advice needed (1 Viewer)

Hello. New to HTF and need some assistance with a receiver setup issue. I have a Marantz SR7400 that I can't get to switch to DTS mode. DVD is a Marantz VC5000. Display only shows Analog. Do I need to change my connection between the DVD and the receiver?

you have it hooked up via optical or digital coax? if not then thats why yer not getting any DTS, also see if your receiver has an auto detect feature for the inputs and set it to auto. secondly make sure your digital inputs are turned on in the receiver, on mine they can be turned off.

Thanks for your reply. Checked it out and sure enough, I failed to connect the digital coax out from the dvd to the receiver. I only had the analog sound connected to the receiver and the s-video connected to the tv. I threw in Monsters, Inc. and the system immediately changed to digital, sensing all of my different speakers. The sound was tremendous and dramatically better than the analog 5.1 I was getting. When I selected DTS, the receiver said "Incompatible" though. Any other thoughts or related advice? Thanks again.
