Marantz 5200 vs. 6200

    Hello,

    Is there a big enough difference between these two for the extra money? The only difference I see is the power ratings.

    6200 has Circle surround which is nice, but I wouldn't miss it. 5200 does not have circle surround, but I'd miss the power more.

    Never hurts to have more power. I opted for the 6200 also.

    Sonically I think the 6200 is ahead of the 5200, but YMMV.

    I had both in my home (though not at the same time), and while they sounded identical at moderate volume, I believe the 5200 sounded a tad harsh when really cranked. I also prefer the CS 5.1 over PL 2 for most material. However, the 5200's remote is more comfortable to hold (a moot point if you plan to get a better 3rd party remote, something I'd recommend no matter which of these receivers you get. If you can afford the 7200, it's remote is worlds better).
